Congress practices innovative form of fiscal discipline: slashing programs for the poor to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy!
- Congress passes trickle up economics package - ANWAR UPDATE: Democracy Not Yet Vanquished - Call and compliment your Congressperson on a job well done - Remembering the less fortunate In a brave simulacrum of leadership, our legislators in Congress stripped funding from services for students, the elderly and the poor in order to provide even more tax cuts and giveaways to the super-rich. "Mom and Pop" mega-corporations like Wal-Mart and Bechtel get a share of the loot, and Christmas will also bring greater legal protections for giant pharmaceutical companies!
UPDATE: Budget Bill passes though weakened. The VP himself flying in to cast the deciding vote in our favor!
Billionaires everywhere say, "Thanks....DICK." "A hard-fought victory, tonight's vote on our plan to achieve $40 billion in savings while reforming government was an exercise in budget discipline," - Acting House Majority Leader Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) - Dec. 20th, 2005 [1] "I don't know what the poor, the elderly, the disabled, or our foster children have done to Republicans to deserve this. . . . just a few days before Christmas," - Rep. Charles B. Rangel (D-N.Y.) - Dec. 20th, 2005. It is a Merry Christmas! For some of us, anyway. [2] And, because it's Christmas, they've also thrown in greater legal protections for giant pharmaceutical companies (heart attacks,shmart-attacks!) [3] $ Democracy is so 1900’s.$ And to sweeten the pot even more, our loyal legislators forced the issue on drilling in the National Arctic Wildlife Refuge by slipping it into the Defense Appropriations Bill and hurricane relief fund! So what if we lost a direct vote on the issue back in 2003? Tying our Arctic drilling agenda to the year-end appropriations bill is a marvelously clever way for us to get around that little trifling annoyance called "Democracy" *
* UPDATE: ANWAR provision stripped by Democrats and Moderates. $ Tell Washington how good they look in Top Hats and Tiaras!Don't forget to share your gratitude! Call your congressmen and women today and thank them for supporting so few at the expense of so many. Be sure to tell them their elite constituents are grateful for their support, and that in return they'll have the very vocal and very visible support of the Billionaires for Bush come next November!
A few insider tips on reaching your legislators: call the Capital switchboard now and ask for your Senator by name! 1-888-818-6641 (they are open 24/7).
Want your Senator’s direct number? It looks like it will be a Happy New Year after all... for some of us, anyway. $ Remembering the less fortunate for the holidays.Of course, every year brings with it disappointments as well as delights, and 2005 was no exception. Every month seemed to bring the scandal that would bring our treasury-looting spree to an end:
- The Downing Street Memo Truly, we Billionaires have had our trials this year. Pun intended! Here's to knowing that all this recent hoopla over Bush's secret and "illegal" wiretapping is soon forgotten!
[1] ?*(Actually, $70 billion in tax cuts for the Billionaires means there’s still a $30 billion gap, but hey, who’s counting?)
And for the last time, Karl Rove is INNOCENT! So please stop emailing us about that.
